OUR NEIGHBOURHOOD
Young children learn best in environments they can relate to. ‘Our Neighbourhood’ is a learning place specially created to depict the buzz of a familiar HDB neighbourhood street. The little shops range from shopping places like the supermarket and floral shop, to food areas like the cafe and ice-cream parlour to service shops like the clinic and hair salon. Children get to take on the roles of customers as well as service providers when they play. They interact and make meaningful conversations. They practice counting money and items, and learn to be more aware of the needs and feelings of others around them. This in turn strengthens the children's relationships. The Neighbourhood is so diverse that the children never tire of play in there.
The LSK Neighbourhood has the following spaces:
Ice Cream Parlour, Supermarket, Floral Shop, Hair Salon, Home Corner, Healthcare Corner, Cafe, Clinic

Young children have curious minds which can be capitalised by teachers who create a variety of learning experiences. They love to explore and find out how things work. Our Science Centre is set up with numerous sets of learning materials that allow children to explore and find answers to questions posed. They become young scientists delving into simple biology, physics and chemistry as they perform various tasks in these exploratory activities. The learning experiences are meant to develop simple science process skills such as observing, recording, predicting, conducting experiments and drawing conclusions. These enjoyable learning experiences help foster the love for learning science in the years ahead.

OUR OUTDOORS
OUR OUTDOORS
Children love the outdoors. In order to create opportunities for children to play and learn outdoors, we have planned for outdoor learning to go beyond the gross motor skills lessons. Since 2019, we have transformed our outdoor area into pockets of spaces where children can invent, innovate and create as they learn. Teachers have brought Science, Numeracy and Social Emotional development lessons outdoors. The climbing structure now has plants that give shade. All the classes get to adopt, grow and harvest vegetables. Through the outdoor lessons, we create opportunities for the young learners to problem-solve and practice creative thinking. They can enjoy the outdoors through the space created for learning and interaction; quenching their thirst of curiosity and exploration.
