Living Sanctuary’s iconic flame emblem is easily recognized among the Hougang community, who refer to LSBC members in endearing terms as ‘cong jiao tang lai de’ (‘people from the church’).
First established in 1978 as Exodus Brethren Chapel, its founding members were a group of fervent young adults who came from New Bridge Road Chapel, a brethren assembly started in 1960.
Today, LSBC is one of the 15 brethren churches in Singapore, and belongs to the family of Evangelical Protestant churches in the city.
Living Sanctuary embraces its calling to be a church without walls in the town of Hougang. Through giving, acts of kindness, prayer, and by meeting felt needs in the neighbourhood, LSBC members make inroads into the lives of the under-reached and largely mandarin-speaking in the community.
On Sundays, you can expect to be greeted with a unique brand of hospitality at any of the four English, Mandarin or Dialect services, and enter a time of exuberant and ministering worship. Living Sanctuary also supports both young and mature families through its family-friendly environment and vibrant children’s ministry.
Led by a very well-loved Senior Pastor Lawrence Chua, LSBC members are proud to be part of a church that is rooted in God’s word, pastored to love others, and empowered by the Holy Spirit to bring the gospel to the nations.
